Christian Dindorf

"Vibration Area of Competence" Team Leader

at Robert Bosch GmbH Schwieberdingen, Germany

Describe your work or your project in one short sentence.

I destroy Bosch products in order to find out how robust they are.

How or where can people admire the results of your work in their everyday lives?

Imagine you are driving on a bumpy road or at high speeds - thanks to my work, you don't need to worry about your car breaking down. I test all the individual components thoroughly to make sure they are safe. State-of-the-art vehicle measurement technology and load tests in the lab help us to make Bosch products as robust as possible - so you can feel safe.

What makes your job special for you?

I think it's great to be able to test so many different components in my work. They are made for such a wide variety of areas and applications, which keeps my work interesting. I also love the fact that I can share my knowledge not only on site here, but also with other Bosch employees all over the world. Exchanging ideas is very interesting, especially with the experts on vibration. I completed one of my most exciting projects for Bosch in this area in 2013 - an internal conference focusing on vibration with over 60 delegates from 10 countries and 15 different divisions.

This is where I come in - I develop the systems that give all of these things their immense power and accurate control.

What makes your job special for you?

The thing I like most is that no two projects are the same. There are always new details; whether it is a more compact format, greater forces or the fact that Bosch Rexroth has just developed completely new, improved technical components. It is a lot of fun to be there in the flesh when new innovative solutions are produced and we can call upon the experience from older projects. Of course, a great team makes it all the more exciting. My job is really a childhood dream come true.
